CBR 101 is an educational program with emphasis placed on making the right decision in the long run and using your resources appropriately throughout the recruitment process in collegiate baseball and softball. Both collegiate sports are highly competitive and seem to begin the recruitment process earlier and earlier. Therefore, having a plan is imperative to putting yourself in the right position as your high school years progress.
CBR 101 was started out of a local need by players and parents having unending questions on how to handle all this. The recruiting process is unkind and at times, very frustrating. We hope to help navigate everyone through it, so the proper decision can be made one time and one time only.
The educational program is run by Dennis Healy. I coached college baseball for almost 20 years. My stops included Cleveland State ( Recruiting Coordinator), The George Washington University ( Recruiting Coordinator), University of New Orleans ( Recruiting Coordinator), Marist College ( Head Coach) and Wake Forest University ( Recruiting Coordinator). Both 2013 and 2014 recruiting classes at Wake Forest ranked nationally in the top 25.
An addition to CBSR 101 came at the end of the 2023 year, adding past client Joe Novenche. Joe Novenche was a Shenendehowa High School Grad in 2018. Dennis helped Joe in his baseball career, bringing him exposure and opportunities to get to the next level. Joe had an excellent career, singing two NLI’S after high school to Canisius and UMBC. In between those two schools, he attended JUCO powerhouse Herkimer. After his playing career, Joe was able to get into the college coaching ranks by joining staff at UMBC as the director of operations. In the back end of his career, he was able to grow and learn in the game of baseball that helped him gain the knowledge and experience needed to excel in this role. With that, he has also has moved into the softball world in the capital region, giving lessons and running clinics for various players in different travel programs around the area.
The navigation of the process is a key to making the proper decision, that of course, is a lifetime decision. The process is for high school age and college players looking to transfer. In addition to the navigation of the process you will be provided with a yearly developmental plan dependent on your position. The plan includes lifting and throwing plan for development.
There are no guarantees to this process, but being equipped to navigate the process is the idea.
TESTIMONIALS
Thank you again for all of your help along the way!
Dennis Healy played a very important role in helping two (2) of my children through out the baseball recruiting process. Dennis contacted several Head Coaches at major universities and started the process rolling for us. The one particular attribute Dennis has which really impressed me, was his follow up and never forgetting or dropping the ball on anything, he was right on it, 24/7. Dennis is very honest and will flat out tell you where you can or cannot play, but after you narrow down your list of schools that you like, Dennis goes to work and gets you in the door directly to the Head Coach for an open discussion. Also, he stays in touch with you when your at college to see how it is going. We are grateful what Dennis has done to help our kids, I would highly recommend his services to anyone, you cannot go wrong.

Coach Healy’s knowledge of the college baseball recruitment process was instrumental in finding a college that was a good fit for our sons both academically and athletically.
Coach Healy’s guidance made the recruiting process easier and our family enjoyed visiting the various colleges and universities.

I started working with Dennis Healy when I was about 14 or 15 years old. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into my first lesson. Within the first few lessons he fixed my mechanics, taught me how to throw new pitches, and he taught me where and when to throw them to be most effective. Dennis gave me a greater understanding of how to pitch and about the game of baseball. Dennis is straight to the point and tells you what to work on and how to do it. Along with the instruction Healy sets you up with a seasonal workout plan as well as a weekly throwing schedule to give you direction for a better edge.
A few years later it was time to start applying for colleges. I knew I wanted to play college baseball but, me and my family had no idea how to go about doing it. I asked Dennis if he could help me with this process I had no clue about. Dennis took me through the process step by step. He helped me come up with a list of colleges I would be interested in and could compete at. I found schools I have never heard of before. But going into this process with an opened mind I found myself stuck between three schools. Dennis with his endless connections got me in contact with these coaches and helped me e-mail, text, and even call these coaches. I visited all three schools just to see what they were like and I found the one that best fit me both academically and athletically. I asked Dennis what the next step was and he explained that to really get an understanding of how the college is that you had to take an overnight and see what the campus life is about. After my overnight I committed to Franklin Pierce University. But, once you commit, Healy takes you through what to do after. He walks you through staying in contact with coaches up until it’s time for you to step on campus. Over this process Dennis and I formed a relationship. Dennis becomes like a member of your family. Even now with me on campus me and Healy stay in contact. He checks up on you and guides you if you are unclear about anything athletically. I am forever grateful to Dennis for everything he has done for me and my family.

“Dennis Healy is a great coach, and a tremendous asset to high school baseball players seeking to play college baseball. Dennis helped my son dramatically improve his pitching skills, which enabled him to pitch in the starting rotation of an elite local travel team, the Adirondack Heat.
Dennis also provided great direction and advice on the college recruiting process. Dennis was a successful college head coach (Marist) and recruiting coordinator (Wake Forest), so he is very familiar with the recruiting process. He has an extensive network of college coaches that he can utilize to help a player, and he will take the initiative to connect your son with college coaches. I found that college coaches liked and respected Dennis, and valued his opinion. Ultimately Dennis was instrumental in helping my son find an opportunity to play baseball at an Ivy League school.”

“When I heard there was a pitching coach in the Capital Region with an extensive background in coaching at the D1 level, I knew I had to go learn from him. What I quickly found out is Coach Healy has an extensive amount of knowledge and love for the game. He cares about making kids better players and people, as well as preparing student-athletes for the rigors of collegiate athletics. I can say, without a doubt, Coach Healy’s teaching and guidance is the one of the main reasons I am the player I am today. I wouldn’t be in the position I am today without his help. Coach Healy provides each player with an honest assessment, and will always be honest about college process. Coach is very connected throughout college baseball and will make the process of finding the right college fit much easier. He will walk you through the process step by step in attempt to make the transition more feasible. Coach wants you to ask questions, make sure you understand and apply the info. The most beneficial tool coach instilled in me was to believe in myself and compete every time out.”
